I am generally a fan of folk, but the amount of folk music that I listen to has increased pretty dramatically recently. Tyler Childers, Simon and Garfunkel, Dolly Parton and Kitchen Dwellers have all been on heavy rotation this week.
On Friday, a local spot that Laura goes to often had an event where they gave out free tapas and a lot of other things on the menu were really cheap (sort of the Spanish version of Black Friday). Laura is friends with everyone who works there, so it was nice to get to know them a bit better and meet a lot of new Spanish people. Everyone I met thought that I was actually Spanish and didn't believe me when I told them I was American which was very exciting!
I don’t have a lot of time to read for fun, but I’ve been trying to bring a book to read on the metro. Right now, I’m reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. It’s very philosophical and not particularly plot-driven, so it took me a bit to get into it. Now that I’ve read more, it is appealing to my political theory side, and I am really enjoying it.
This week was filled with lots of rowing. I am trying to make time to go to the rowing club every day, even if just to go for a run from there rather than from my apartment. Since I’m trying to make myself known within the team, I think it is important to show up as much as possible.
