Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a great week and that your exams are going well. This will be my last entry, so I wanted to thank you for your time and attention! I’m so happy with my work here, the town that I’m living in and the people that I’ve gotten to meet, and I’m grateful that I had the chance to share bits of my life here with you all, too.
I hope you all enjoyed the stories over the past few months! Costa Rica really is such a beautiful country in every sense. The food, wildlife, landscapes-- you name it! But, the best part about being here has been the people.
Some of the warmest memories I have from my time here surround the people in my community. I’ll give you an example. During Easter, my host family and I planned to go out for dinner, as we had run out of food at home and all of the grocery stores were closed. The nearest restaurant to our house was a 30 minute uphill walk. At around 6 pm we started the hike up for dinner, only to arrive and realize that the restaurant was closed too! I had expected everyone to be upset, but instead they just laughed. “You know what we can do…”, my host mom started. “We can go fishing in the tilapia basin next to the house!” And we did just that.
