Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

We traveled from Reykjavík, Iceland to East Greenland.

How did I get around this week?:

This week, I traveled on board Le Commandant Charcot, a Polar Class 2 ice-breaker ship. You can read more about this ship in my Field Note!

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

This week, we visited a fjord. Do you know what a fjord is? The Captain was able to navigate the ship into the fast ice, or the ice that is connected to the land. We were surrounded by small mountains on either side. No humans have been to this area in years and years. It felt like a magical place!

Other Travel News from this week:

This week, I have made so many new friends. Living on board a ship is a great way to form community with the other passengers. Here are the names of some of my new friends: Ian and Susie from Scotland; Christian from Belgium; Bill, Stephanie, Adam and Lee-Gray from the United State; Gerome from England; and Jean-Fred and Nick from France. I hope to introduce you to them in some of my articles!
