How Do I Get From One Place to Another?

Introduction:

Living in a big city, getting around is a bit different than on Maui. Here in Tokyo, trains are one of the main ways I get around, which is very different from home, where we don’t even have trains! In this blog, I want to tell you a bit about how I get from one place to another here in Japan. I’ll let you know a bit about transportation (that means how things get from one place to another) both here in Tokyo and in the countryside.

How do people get around?:

In Tokyo, thousands of people use the trains every day. Many train stations are all over Tokyo, helping connect each place to the next. Some of these train stations are very big and busy with many different types of trains going all over the place, while others are a bit smaller with only a few trains. The big stations have trains that can connect you from the city to the countryside and have tracks for the high-speed bullet trains, while other stations only have the slower local trains that stay within Tokyo. Some stations have many floors, with trains that run on tracks above the ground, regular tracks on the ground, and many trains that run underground in tunnels (this system is called the subway). As well as trains, people also drive their own cars, use the bus, bicycle, use taxis or walk!
