A special mid-race message from Izzy, Ali, Nicola and Aaby, from the middle of the Atlantic Ocean:

Wow, what a start to the race it's been! We can't quite believe it has been three weeks already. While many people have been celebrating the holidays at home with their families, we celebrated (on the boat, of course) with reindeer antlers, New Year's Day party tunes and treats. There have been plenty of highs, and some lows with the weather throwing everything it can at us. From surfing 10-foot waves and loving the speed to almost getting blown over and capsizing with the wind, we have tried to stick to the routines as much as possible. We sometimes row three at a time when we want to go a little faster. The lack of sleep is now very real and we are so tired; when we go off-watch to sleep, we dream that we are still rowing! With only an hour of sleep at a time, sometimes we have slept through alarms because we think we’re already awake. The good news is we are almost halfway there and it is January 2025, so we will see land this month--if we keep rowing as fast as we can.

Rowing the Atlantic is everything we thought it would be and more. Nothing would ever have been able to prepare us for the physical exertion our bodies are facing with the lack of sleep.
