How do Germans Prefer their Transportation?

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

These ways of getting around are definitely connected to the culture and environment. In the United States, it is so common to just drive cars everywhere, or if you're in the city you walk or take the metro. But I notice, having been all over Germany, that it is part of the norm to either walk or take the bus or even ride a bike. It's very common to grow up that way. Children and teens in grade school and high school actually do not have school buses. They use the regular city bus. I have seen a kid as young as five years old on the buses. So, culturally buses and walking are activities people grow up doing in Germany.
