Introducing Imari to South Korea and Ms. Evelyn's 5th Grade Class

And I have six nieces and nephews that think I'm the fun aunt! And they are not wrong. Before I left, we had just gotten a puppy, her name is Christmas as well as several chicks, who I lovingly refer to as the Velociraptors. They are cute but they definitely know their ancestors were dinosaurs and they never want me to forget it. I adore animals and sports. I swam competitively from the age of six until I was nineteen, and then I became a coach myself. Swimming is one of my passions as well as music, and languages.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak eight languages: French, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Swahili, American Sign Language, English, and Korean. Although I had to take French in high school, I taught myself these languages over the course of my life. In particular, I’ve been studying Korean on my own for the last 12 years. One day, while watching anime with one of my sisters, we stumbled on an adaptation of one of our favorite shows, “Hana Yori Dango”, but the world knows it better by “Boys Over Flowers”. It was from Korea and neither one of us had ever really heard or watched anything from there, so I was intrigued. From the moment the theme song came on, I was hooked; the language was so beautiful and interesting, unlike anything I had ever heard in my life. I binged the whole 16 hour drama in two days, and I was still hungry for more. So I searched the internet high and low for more Korean dramas and I came up empty. There weren’t any with subtitles. I know it’s hard to imagine now, but, at that time, the world and internet were pretty ignorant of the amazing entertainment industry that exists in South Korea.
