Introducing Imari to South Korea and Ms. Evelyn's 5th Grade Class

Introduction:

Hello!

안녕하세요~~~

My name is Imari Williams, and I’m from Portland, Oregon where I’ve lived all my life so far. But boy, do I love to travel. Plane, train, car rides stuck in the very back with no leg room until we hit the Grand Canyon, yup, I love that too. The best part of travelling is getting to meet new people and learn different perspectives. My love of travel has led me to South Korea where I am currently in the middle of spending one year at a Korean university in the capital of Seoul. And it is at this point that you are all joining me, so let’s get to know each other a bit as we begin this journey together.

What is your full name?:

My full name is Imari Simone Williams. "Imari" comes from the Swahili name "Imara" meaning firm and solid warrior. My mother picked my name and I love it. When I was young it used to be hard to have a non-typical name, because people had such a hard time pronouncing it. But as I've grown, I appreciate the thought my mother put into naming me.

What is your family like?:

Back home, I live with my parents, my uncle, and younger sisters. I am smack in the middle of my twin brother and my younger sister; although I have six other step siblings I am still the middle child.
