Interview with Carla

My mom sells yaroa which is a dish with a lot of meat, potatoes, cheese, ketchup and mayonnaise. My mom lives in a house about a 15 to 30-minute walk away from me. I live with my grandma who takes care of kids, does laundry and takes care of an old lady.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 8:00 a.m. and we go home at 4:00 p.m.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I get to school on a motor scooter. I am not allowed to go to school by myself.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I eat lunch in the cafeteria at school on the weekdays and at my house on the weekends. My favorite food is rice with scrambled eggs and onions.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

At school, I speak Spanish. To say "Hello," we say "Hola" or "¿Qué lo qué?" for "What's up?"

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Some common kids names are Alexander, Eliainy, Carla, Dashli, Jhon, Mariainy and Yordany.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I study Math, English, Spanish, P.E., Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Art, Robotics and Religion.

What is your homework like?:

In English, I had to draw a house and label the parts of it in English. For Religion, I had to draw my family.

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

After school, I like to play on my tablet. My favorite sport is volleyball.
