One of Germany's most famous street foods is Currywurst, so I knew I needed to try it on my first day in Germany! Currywurst originated in Berlin, the country's capital! The dish is made of a Wurst (sausage) topped with ketchup, curry sauce and curry powder. Curry is a type of spice, very popular in Indian dishes. Currywurst is still my favorite street food so far!
After a long day shopping and walking, it was time for dinner. Another very common meat dish in Germany is essentially a platter of different types of Wurst. The plate I had included a Bratwurst (fried sausage), Weißwurst (white sausage), Currywurst and a mystery-wurst! They also come with Sauerkraut, which is a traditional German side dish made of fermented cabbage. It was very good and very filling!
Finally, I ended the day back at my dorm, taking Diesel for a walk. I have an awesome view of the castle from where I live. At night, it is lit up from every angle. It's stunning!
My first day showed me such a wonderful glimpse into what the town has to offer! Marburg has a beautiful castle, beautfull buildings, yummy Wurst and so much more I'll discover soon. Do you think you'd try Currywurst if you go the chance?
