As I have met people in my town, I have been invited to celebrate different events and holidays, which is very exciting for me!
This week, I did a lot of walking! But luckily I get to pass by a small park, our lovely main plaza, and say "hello" to many people in the community I know on my way to work.
The most interesting place I visited this week was a small town, that had the most green grass and beauitful hills! There was a small lake, and since it was cloudy, it felt like I was floating in the sky somewhere, above the clouds.
My town was the original slave port in Peru for many years. Nearby, you can still visit one of the old haciendas, which were plantation homes for slaves working on cotton farms. You can go inside the tunnels underneath to see how they transported slaves. For me, it was very difficult to see how small the rooms were and the tunnels underground that they kept slaves in. This experience was important to me because it taught me a lot about Peru's history.
