I then tried beef fried rice because I initially thought there would be no difference between this dish in America and Australia, but boy, was I wrong! Australian beef fried rice was lighter, fresher and more diverse in flavor than America's. It is one of those tastes I can't explain, but you must try it to understand what I mean.
The following week, I went to Queen Victoria Street market, which had food stands from different cultures worldwide! While there, I tried grilled squid on a stick for the first time, which may sound weird to eat, but it was amazing! It was smoky and chewy with a unique, slightly charred flavor, unlike anything I had tasted before. After this event, I went to the supermarket to get a ramen that a local recommended I try. It had to be one of the spiciest foods I tried in Australia and was called Buldak Carbonara Ramen. This Korean-style ramen was creamy but incredibly spicy; it was so hot that it felt like I was breathing fire!
I then finally had two classic Australian dishes: meat pie and vegemite. Meat pie is a buttery pastry with warm, savory meat fillings and sometimes gravy. It was an excellent option for a quick and delicious meal on the go. Vegemite, on the other hand, was an interesting taste. I don't think I will ever eat it alone again, but it was good spread on a piece of bread! Many Americans here tend to disagree that Vegemite is good, but you won't know unless you try it! Would you try Vegemite?
