Tromsø is a small island and city. It probably takes around two hours to walk from one end to the other. It takes me about twenty minutes to walk from my dorm to the city center, and about 45 minutes to walk to the university. Even though walking around the city doesn't take that long, I tend to use the bus more often because I have a bad habit of being late. At first it was difficult to figure out the best ways to get around town, but now that I've been here for a few months I feel like an expert!
There are a lot of different ways to get around in Tromsø. The most common way to get around is the bus. Almost everyone from elementary school students to working adults to grandparents takes the bus. I use the bus everyday! There's a stop right outside my dorm, and there's an app that makes it really easy to figure out the schedule. Some people who live a little farther from the city center drive themselves instead of taking the bus. Many people bike around the city, and e-bikes are becoming more popular because they make the hilly terrain of Tromsø much less tiring. Another common option is just walking. Like I mentioned, Tromsø is a really small city, so people often choose to walk when they have the time and the weather is nice (and sometimes even when the weather isn't nice).
