Our News

This week was particularly fun because my friend Katja came back from a vacation just in time to meet at the market! It had been a long time since we had seen each other. So, after buying our groceries (and looking at some jewelry), we went to a bar to have a cold coca-cola and catch up. The market is my chance to have a cold drink, because I do not have a fridge at my house!

What did I read this week?:

This week I have enjoyed reading the novel Hild and the non-fiction book Remotely Global. Hild is about a young seer in post-Roman Britain, so it makes for quite a change of topic from my daily life! Remotely Global is an ethnography about a Kabye village in Togo, and therefore a topic much closer to home. Ethnography is a particular type of non-fiction book written by an anthropologist, or someone who studies culture.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

It’s soccer season in Togo. Although I do not play any team sports, soccer is very popular here. I watched a couple of middle school classes compete against each other in a match.

Other news from this week:

This week, a garden project I am working on made a lot of progress! We put up a fence around the garden plot and we began a compost pile for the garden.
