A lifetime of memories

Switzerland is very different to Texas, with lots of rain, snow, and mountains instead of sun and wind and a flatter landscape. People in Switzerland love to be outdoors doing things like skating, skiing, snowboarding, hang-gliding, biking, and hiking. There were things for all interests though: for example, as an artistic person, I found the best art shops and studios in Switzerland, and there were amazing museums and cathedrals to get lost in, and lots of different stores to shop in. Truly, a little bit of something for everyone! I quickly found out that cheese is one of the most important aspects of Swiss culture. The Swiss are renowned for their cheese and chocolate, and they take these foods very seriously. There are major chocolate factories all over Switzerland. One of the major chocolate brands in Switzerland is Lindt, and this company even has massive chocolate waterfalls in many of their stores! Fondue—made from both cheese and chocolate is also a beloved treat in Switzerland.

When people think of Switzerland, they may picture the snow-covered Alps Mountains. They may also think of the Swiss national mascot, the Saint Bernard dog. Or people may picture the country’s iconic flag with its white cross emblazoned on a red background. Perhaps a lesser-known fact about Switzerland is that it is one of the most educated countries globally and an international hub, hosting a high number of expatriates, diplomats, and intergovernmental organizations. As a central European country, Switzerland also provides clean water for many of its neighbors and is itself a country closely almost synonymous with wealth, health and wellness. Switzerland is also a politically neutral country.
