Hong Kong's Transportation

Introduction:

Hi everyone! Imagine if you could get almost anywhere you wanted without ever needing a car. That's exactly what life is like in Hong Kong! Let's take a closer look at how people get around Hong Kong!

How do people get around?:

Most people in Hong Kong get around using public transportation. While some people own cars or bicycles, many travel by bus, MTR (the subway system), tram or simply by walking.

To pay for transportation, many people use an Octopus Card. An Octopus Card is a reusable payment card that people add money to and then tap on a scanner when they get on a bus, train or tram. There are both physical cards and digital versions that can be used on a phone.

One thing that surprised me is how easy it is to travel almost anywhere in Hong Kong without a car. The public transportation system is fast, reliable and used by millions of people every day.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

It took a little time to get used to Hong Kong's public transportation system because there are many different train lines that go to different parts of the city. At first, it could be confusing to figure out which line I needed to take.
