Germany is a nice place for refugee families to move because it has less strict immigration laws than other European countries due to its history and is accessible by land from Syria.
However, so many families have now arrived in Germany, there are not enough houses for them. They may also need help finding jobs and learning German.
So these families could be more comfortable, temporary houses were built quickly. One of these temporary houses is very close to where I work in Berlin. It looks a bit different from most of the other houses in Berlin, but the families there seem happy. There is even a nice playground outside for the children to play on.
Other ways to make these families feel more comfortable have opened like meeting places for them to gather. One of them is a cafe called "Refugio." Refugio holds German classes, different workshops, job training and meals. This helps families feel more welcome in Berlin.
