Wildschwein are omnivores (meaning they eat everything). In the forest, they spend their time foraging for roots, worms, grubs, mice, snails and mushrooms. They also eat acorns, fruits, vegetables and grasses. They spend a lot of time resting in mud which helps protect their skin from the sun and parasites.
We have not harmed the wildschwein. In fact, their population size is very large...some might say, maybe even a bit too large! Wildschwein are beginning to outgrow the forests surrounding Berlin and occasionally enter the suburbs. Once a wildschwein was even seen roaming the middle of Alexanderplatz (the square at the very center of Berlin)!
