The main languages here are Spanish and Haitian Creole.
The money here is called pesos dominicanos (Dominican pesos). A Dominican peso is worth about $0.016 in US currency. That's a little more than a penny!
Water costs 15 - 20 pesos dominicanos. The water brand "villar" is 15 pesos, while "planeta azul" is 20 pesos. That's like $0.24 - $0.32 cents.
The best meal this week was Coditos (elbow pasta), chicken, rice and a fruit bowl. On Saturday, I made a granola treat and chicken. I bought granola, peanut butter and honey; mixed it all together and separated it into spoonfuls. Then, I placed it in the fridge to harden and cool. It was delicious! Here, chicken is not sold processed the way it is in the United States. Chickens are killed shortly before they are sold and you can still see very small pieces of feather when you buy it. You have to clean it very well before cooking it!
