Travel News

It is sort of like a train that runs all the way from one end of Paris to another. The RER is an eight minute walk from my residence hall and an eight minute walk from the metro to campus, so it is a fairly easy commute. However, sometimes the RER can be over-crowded and it can be running slow, so I also enjoy taking the bus in the morning. The bus stop near me is closer than the RER and it is one of the first stops so I can normally find a seat to sit. I also enjoy the bus because I can look out the window and observe what is around the city.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

You can see the Notre Dame Cathedral from the 8th floor of my school building. It is a remarkable view. I have been to see the Notre Dame. I had a class outside of the Notre Dame. I stumbled upon the Notre Dame when I got lost...but I had never been inside the Notre Dame! There is no cost to go inside, so I am not sure why it took me so long to find the time to go inside! It was incredibly breathtaking. Inside there is the church, but there is also a part in the back of the church that is dedicated to the history of how the Notre Dame was built. I used to think the fact that my high school was built in the 1800s meant it was an old building... but Notre Dame's construction began in the 1100s!!!

Other Travel News from this week:

I enjoy walking along the Seine. The Seine is the river that runs through the middle of Paris. There are a lot of boat cruises and restaurants along the Seine. Today, I saw an older couple doing Tai Chi along the Seine. Then further down the river I saw a bunch of high schoolers sitting on the ground eating pizza. There are also a lot of couples that walk along the Seine together.
