Can you believe it?!! It has been three months already and everything is coming to an end. In August, I sought out a new country and somehow was given the opportunity to live and study here for a year. I was fearful of new adventures but knew that there was more to the world than I could possibly know and wanted to start exploring it now. Fast forward to the present, I have been in Korea for about five months with new friends, memories and experiences that I will cherish for a long time.

My intention in coming here was to explore the culture of Korea and how it became what it is today. I can't say that I can entirely answer this question yet, but I can list some observations. School for students is completely different and it takes a moment to get used to how things are done. It is a business casual society with a lot of people wearing full-blown suits. There is also a deep respect and preservation for historic things in Korea. From these observations, I can tell that the children are taught young to succeed in school, presentation is important as it shows social status and that their past is never forgotten and instead used as fuel to pave a better future.
