I traveled thousands of miles by plane from Boston to Johannesburg, South Africa to Livingtson, Zambia. I only traveled a handful of miles by bike. Tomorrow, we start the ride! It will be a slow day, only 70 miles I think. This is still further than I have ever biked in my life!
Around 9,000 miles all by plane.
Plane, bicyle and taxi. The taxis are cool. If anyone is standing out in the heat, usually with their shopping bags on their head to make shade, the taxi stops and they hop in with you. You meet many Africans that way, and it's environmentally smart.
Livingston Falls and the Zambezi River which are about 50 feet out my door.
For months I have been training, looking at the route and at all the camps on a map on my wall, imagining what it will be like. This kept me working hard, and now I'm really here in the place I saw on my maps!
