After just a few months in Denmark, it’s finally time for me to head back home to the United States. When I first landed, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. I had so many questions about the culture, lifestyle, weather, food and so many more things. There was an underlying worry that I wouldn’t enjoy my study abroad experience as much as I hoped to. But, just within the first day, the feelings quickly disappeared. After having dinner with my new housemates, the local Danish students took us to the docks along the canal to watch the sunset and meet other students. We all sat in a large circle, and I quickly made conversation with those around me. These new friends have continued to stick by my side as we explored Denmark and other countries across Europe together. We were all in an unfamiliar environment and helped each other learn how to live in Copenhagen.
Before arriving, I had only heard good things about Copenhagen from social media and friends that had studied abroad here: the pastries are some of the best they’ve ever had, the city is beautiful, bikes are everywhere and you would be fine only speaking English.
