Himachal Pradesh is a state in the northern part of India. Situated in the Western Himalayas, it is predominately a mountaineous region. Almost 90% of the state lives in rural areas with agriculture, horticulture, hydropower and tourism as important components of the state's economy. This past weekend, I visited this region, specifically Kasali and Chail.
Hill-stations in India are high altitude towns used as a place of refuge and travel. These areas are special because they are usually located in beautiful natural and isolated areas.
Most of the hill stations are situated at heights ranging from 600 meters above the sea level to 3500 meters above the sea level. This past weekend I visited Himachal Pradesh, which is located in the Central Himalayan region of India. The communities in these areas seem to be nature-dependent, meaning they love nature and view nature as a way of life.
