Nature News

This means you don’t have to worry about one getting too close to you!

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

Passion fruits! Walking near the hostel I noticed what appeared to be a misplaced Easter egg lying on the ground. Picking up the shiny, oval object, I discovered I had stumbled upon a passion fruit. Searching for the source of the tangy purple fruit, I looked up and spied a long delicate vine intricately laced through the branches of an overhanging tree. From its spidery protrusions hung plump passion fruits waiting for a strong wind (or a strong will) to free them from their suspended state and bring them down to earth. Although that wind has not yet come, I will be waiting!

Other Nature News from this week:

Plumerias are my favorite Malaysian flower! They are small flowers with soft fleshy petals emanating (branching out) from a fragrant central axis in a simple, elegant overlapping pattern. They come in a variety of colors including yellow, orange, red, pink and white. However, I’ve only seen pink and white varieties in Kuala Terengganu. This week I found a beautiful white plumeria while helping my friend pick out a plant for her office. Cantik (Beautiful)!
