It's beautiful outside! The weather is getting “cooler.” The hot, sunny 90-degree days of the dry season have been replaced with temperate pre-monsoon days. Mornings are a cool and sunny 75 degrees. As the day progresses, the temperature begins to creep into the high eighties. Just as the temperature becomes unbearable, clouds begin to roll in and a light rain begins to fall around 5:00 or 6:00 p.m., ushering in a cool and breezy night.
Swerve! When biking to the lab, I almost crashed into a giant monitor lizard rushing across my path. These black and yellow scaly reptiles are the namesakes for my morning path, Jalan biawak, or Monitor Lizard Path. Monitor lizards can be seen swimming along the canal, gracefully snaking their way through the water by undulating (moving in a wave-like motion) their hips and sunning themselves all along the path. While they look big and scary, don’t worry, they think we look big and scary, too!
