Because of the extreme heat and hot equatorial sun, I typically opt for the large 1.5-liter water bottle, which costs about 1.5 ringgit, or about 75 U.S. cents.
Nasi ayam (nasi means "rice," ayam means "chicken")! Although no one cooks better chicken rice than my friend Mann, I had a bagus (good) plate of nasi ayam in Chinatown this past week! Fried chicken marinated in an aromatic brown sauce with hints of garlic, star anise, cinnamon and cloves perched on a bed of rice that has been simmered in a broth containing cardamom, cinnamon, pandan leaves and chicken stock. What’s not to like? For all you vegetable lovers out there, nasi ayam is always served with a side of cucumbers and tomatoes. Nikmati (Enjoy)!
Yuna! My friend Jangga introduced me to her work a few weeks back and I’ve been hooked ever since. Yuna is from Malaysia, but she recently moved to New York to pursue her music career. In this way, I feel as though we’ve flip-flopped! We’ve both moved halfway around the world to pursue our goals. Last year she released a song with Usher called “Crush.” It’s sangat bagus (very good). If you have time, you should give it a listen! I can’t wait to hear what new music she releases next!
