This week, I traveled 100 miles! During the week, I stayed in my village, but over the weekend I traveled to Joal Fadiouth, which is a coastal town two hours from here.
So far, I've traveled 5,100 miles and counting!
During the week, I always walk between my house and my internship, as well as to go shopping or to do chores. Ndiaganiao is small enough that I can walk the length of the town in about twenty minutes. Over the weekend, I took a group taxi to get from my village to Joal Fadiouth. The taxis are very small cars, but they can hold eight people, and it costs only 3 dollars for a two hour ride. This is much cheaper than the Ubers I use in the United States!
On Saturday I visited Joal Fadiouth, which is an island made entirely of seashells. The island has no cars, and you can reach by crossing a long, wooden bridge. I watched the sunset and my friends and saw views of mangrove forests, which are super-common in Senegal.
