Traveler Bio

Hi everyone! My name is Kathryn and I'm a 20-year-old college student currently studying abroad in Dakar, Senegal! I’m from a small town in Western Massachusetts and I live with my mom, sister, and six chickens! I'm a junior at the University of Denver, where I study art and international relations. I will be spending 4 months in Senegal (a country in West Africa), where I will be studying international development, French, and Wolof (Senegal's national language). I'm living with a host family in the capital and largest city, Dakar. Since Dakar is on the Atlantic coast, it’s famous for beaches, tasty fish, and colorful clothing. I chose Senegal because I wanted to speak French and visit Africa for the first time.

In my free time, I love taking walks, traveling to new places, and doing Sudoku puzzles. I also coach three sports: skiing, yoga, and horseback riding, and while I'm abroad I'm teaching yoga classes to my peers! Right now, my favorite sport to play is curling. My favorite hobby is ceramics, and I love making vases, teapots, and bowls out of clay. I know how to juggle and love learning random facts! I can’t wait to meet you all and share more facts about Senegal and studying abroad!
