The farthest I have traveled this week was to Gyeongbokgung Palace, which is just a half an hour ride using public transportation. I took the 6 line train and then had to transfer to the 3 line train in order to get off at Gyeongbokgung Palace.
The farthest I have traveled so far was when I decided to go visit my friend in Gimcheon (김천), which is another city located in South Korea. In total, it took me about four and a half hours to get to her. It was my first time taking the Korail to travel, which is the Korean Railroad Transportation System, and it was an eye opening experience.
I mostly got around by walking since everything I needed was close by. I live less than five minutes away from the main campus, so I can also easily walk to Anam Station, the station closest to my residing area. At Anam, there are many restaurants and stores to explore.
This week I was able to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace where I was able to try on a traditional hanbok (한복) dress and learn about the history of Korea. After doing some research and walking around the area, I learned that Gyeongbokgung Palace was built in 1395 and is one of the first and largest palaces built during the Joseon Dynasty.
