Exploring Korean BBQ in South Korea!

Introduction:

I love eating and trying new foods. My family is Brazilian, but at my house we cook food from many different countries and cultures. My family does not eat much in the way of spicy foods, but I love them! There are many very sweet and very spicy foods in South Korea. Today I want to share my experience trying 고기구이 (gogi-goo-ui), or Korean barbecue! There are many side dishes that come with this meal. Afterwards, I always enjoy going to a nice cafe for dessert and sweet drinks like lattes and smoothies.

What food did I try?:

One food that I had never eaten before going to South Korea was 삼겹살 (samgyeopsal), or grilled pork belly. We ate it Korean barbecue-style, which means there were always side dishes like soups and vegetables that we ate with the grilled meat. 콩나물 국 (kongnamul guk) or soybean sprout soup is usually served as one of the many side dishes at the barbecue. Afterwards, I enjoyed eating 빙수 (bingsoo), a sweet shaved ice dessert, with my friends.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I felt an explosion of salty, spicy, and sweet flavor while eating samgyeopsal. You have to be careful not to eat it too fast— the meat is grilled right in front of you, so it is always hot! I had friends who burned their tongues because they were so excited.
