Interview with Ely and Adry

Introduction:

Where we live has a huge influence on how we grow up. I've been lucky enough to live with a host family here that includes my host mom and dad as well as two host sisters, Ely and Adry. Living with them has taught me a lot about what it's like to grow up in Ecuador. To learn some more about kid's lives here, I interviewed Ely and Adry. Ely is ten and her older sister is 15. We did our interview in Spanish, but I've translated their respones for you below. They usually took turns answering questions, though sometimes both wanted to respond. Enjoy!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

Adry: For breakfast I eat something healthy like fruit, brown bread and juice. For lunch, I eat more: usually rice, chicken, french fries and salad. For dinner something simple like a toasted sandwich or a tortilla, and always with juice or coffee.

Note: In Ecuador "tortillas" are not the same as in the U.S. Rather than just flat round breads, they are are flat breads stuffed with cheese and then grilled.

What is your house like?:

Ely: My house has three floors. The first is where my mom works, the bedrooms are on the second and the third is where we do the laundry. My house is orange and beige. It has lots of plants outside, and my favorite part is the patio where I play.
