I've been to the USA, Canada, Mexico, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Cambodia, China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Egypt and Morocco!
My favorite trip, out of all those, was Japan. I went in 2016, and it was my first trip that I did all by myself, with no friends or family. I enjoyed the culture so much because it was a new culture for me. Tokyo is this big city that has a very modern culture, but on the other hand, the country is also very traditional in style and manner. I traveled in the mountains and went to this ancient village with wooden houses. It was amazing to see the stark differences and contrasts between the city and the village, the modern and the traditional.
I work at the Fulbright Center, where the office that oversees Mackenzie's role is. I do not work with Mackenzie, though. I actually work with Dutch students and help them study in the United States. I help with their college applications and support them during their year abroad. I help prepare them for the U.S. and any possible obstacles or culture shock they may encounter.
If you ever have the chance to visit new places, near home or even abroad, I would highly suggest it! You learn so much from different people, cultures and ways of living. It really changed my perspective on the Netherlands, my home. I learned to appreciate my country more and the people who live here.
