Hello! My name is Madison Koenig, and I am 22 years old. I come from a really small town in southern Indiana called Sandborn. I grew up on a crop farm, and I always got to eat fresh sweet corn that was grown right outside my house every Summer! I would help my mom make meals with the local produce and meat that we got, which was where my love of cooking began. When I entered high school, I started taking Family and Consumer Sciences classes (FACS) and fell in love with the field. From those classes, I learned how to cook, sew, budget, care for children, and develop relationships.
I saw a need for those content areas in other schools, so I decided to attend Purdue University to study FACS Education. Since there are many different cultural aspects of my major, I thought it would be beneficial for me to travel overseas and obtain new insight into those cultures! I plan to bring those ideas with me in my future classroom and develop a culturally inclusive environment. I am excited for this opportunity, and I cannot wait to share my journey with you!
