This week we had a paint night at my friend's house. We all painted little playing cards to give to my friend, Hannah, for her birthday!
Right now, I’m reading The Performance Artist by Franz Kafka. I visited Prague, Kafka’s home city, during the Christmas holiday, and because of that trip, I’ve fallen in love with Czech literature.
I play in two different soccer groups here. My teammates make fun of me for calling it soccer because in Spain, and almost everywhere else in the world, it’s called fútbol. The sport is huge here, and most people have been playing since they were very young. I’m glad I kept playing after high school, otherwise they would be completely destroying me on the field.
As I mentioned in my bio, I’m a scientist researching enzymes. This upcoming week, I’ll be giving two presentations about enzymes that degrade PFAS. I’ll be traveling to Madrid, the capital of Spain, and to Santander, a city in the north. Our lab has discovered some pretty exciting things about these enzymes, and I’m excited to share them.
