I am in a very special region of Spain where many languages are spoken. As I mentioned before, Girona is part of the estado autónoma (autonomous region) of Catalonia. This means that people here speak Spanish, Catalan and English. Catalan is like a beautiful mixture of Spanish, French and Italian. It is spoken by over 9 million people, which makes it a very useful and fun language to learn if you ever decide to visit Spain.
Spain is part of the European Union, which means it uses the Euro (€) as its currency, and one Euro is worth about 1.19 U.S. dollars.
Water here costs anywhere from €0.50 to €2.00, depending on where you buy it. At restaurants, you usually have to order bottled water because asking for tap water is considered unusual, but I do it anyway since I like saving money.
This week was full of delicious food, and one of the best dishes was a Tuscan white bean soup I made with one of my friends, served with plenty of bread, of course.
