As the semester draws to a close, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about my time in Costa Rica and how much I am going to miss living here. It’s hard to believe that just four short months ago I was in Illinois packing my bags and getting ready for my trip. Time flew by this semester! I remember having a mix of emotions about my trip. I was nervous about spending so much time away from home, excited about getting the opportunity to travel to a new country and curious about what I would see and do here. It has been a great adventure filled with some amazing experiences. I’ve made a bunch of new friends, I’ve visited tons of beautiful places and I’ve even gotten a lot better at speaking Spanish. I will reflect on some things that have made the biggest impact on my life here.

First, I am very grateful to have been able to experience all of the natural beauty that this country has to offer. I’ve traveled all over Costa Rica, and I’ve seen things that some people only see in pictures. The sunsets and landscapes were unreal. There were also so many cool plants and wild animals that I've never seen in person.

Second, the laid-back environment of the country has made me feel a lot more relaxed and appreciative of life. I’ve grown so used to my fast-paced routine in college in the U.S.
