I work in sales at Citi Korea. My job requires me to work with different institutions, such as insurance companies, local securities, asset managers and foreign companies.
Here is a little bit about my daily schedule! I wake up at 6:00 AM and arrive at the office by 7:30 AM. I start my work day with a meeting, where my team and I update each other on the latest status of financial markets (NASDAQ, NYSE, KOSPI) and any significant news headlines from all over the world that might affect the markets. We also share any new opportunities, if any.
After the morning meeting, I set up my systems and start working with clients, providing them with foreign exchange currencies and the day's exchange rates. I finalize and record all my deals by the afternoon and make sure the back office will proceed with the transactions. Then, I write a summary about changes in the Korean market to send to our regional partners. I usually end my day at 5:30 PM.
I think that your college years are a good time to explore all of your interests! In addition, you should travel! It helps to get to know yourself better. I think learning about other cultures is very important. It makes you a more well-rounded person, when you see how others live their lives and learn about it.
I also think you should take your time in getting a job and be open-minded about opportunities. I have noticed that in Korea, competition in the job market is very fierce! Young people are really pressured to get a job right away.
