Chel’s style is best described as streetwear, with relaxed, baggy clothing paired with stylish accessories. His favorite element of an outfit is between his glasses, boots, and the accessories he pairs with each outfit.

What do you like to do in your free time?:

In his free time, Chel enjoys going to the gym, both aboard the ship and back home in the Philippines. When he’s not lifting weights, he spends time running his own small business—a local coffee shop he started. While he’s away at sea, his mother and cousin help keep the business running, making sure everything is taken care of until he returns.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

The most commonly spoken languages in the Philippines are Filipino (Tagalog) and English. Tagalog, one of the country's native languages, has also been influenced by Spanish. For example, the greeting "Kumusta?" (How are you?) is derived from the Spanish phrase "¿Cómo está?" This reflects the Philippines' rich and linguistic history!

Do you have pets?:

Back home, Chel's household extends beyond people including two cats, Luna and Spike, along with eight dogs: Gucci, Chanel, Cookie, Snow, Bruno, Chip, Dior and Oreo. With ten pets in total, there’s never a dull moment!

After five years working with Semester at Sea, Chel has visited so many countries that it’s hard to keep track of them all!
