Beautiful Blossoms Bless the New Year

This English teacher works at a local middle school, and she told me that every year, students and teachers plant peach blossom trees around the school. All of the students and teachers wait patiently for many months. When the flowers finally bloom, many people will take photos near the beautiful trees.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

When I first saw peach blossoms in Lạng Sơn, I felt very surprised! The entire month of January has been so cold. I thought that it would be impossible to see any flowers bloom during this part of the year. I love cherry blossoms. So it was easy for me to love peach blossoms, too! In fact, I even use peach blossom-scented body wash!

Where does it live?:

Peach blossoms can be found in many places around the world. Japan has been known to give cherry blossoms to different countries in the world. For example, Washington D.C., the Netherlands, and Turkey all have cherry/peach blossom trees that were donated to them by the government of Japan and other Japanese organizations. As for Vietnam, the history of the peach blossom is a little more dramatic.

An ancient legend explains that Emperor Quang Trung sent a peach blossom tree to his wife after battling and defeating the Chinese army (a few thousand years ago). The blossoms meant that the emperor was safe and that he had won the war. This happened during Lunar New Year or Tết. Now, the blossoms symbolize love, peace, spring, and happiness--you can find this flower throughout Vietnam.

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Peach blossoms do not have much to worry about when it comes to ensuring their survival!
