On Saturday we went to Castro Candelas, a beautiful little town about one hour away from Ourense, with the bagpipe bands from our escola do gaita.
The furthest I have been so far during my year in Spain was when I went to Belfast, Northern Ireland (in the U.K.) for Christmas.
Since Ourense is fairly small, I almost always walk everywhere I need or want to go. The rain and cold doesn't prevent the sidewalks from being crowded here.
When I visited the town of Castro Candelas, a friend and I walked up to explore an old castle from the 1300s. It was a small medieval castle that was mostly used as a residence, and it was beautiful to explore and climb.
After traveling for three weeks straight during winter break, it has been very nice to rest in Ourense this month.
