Dakuibeqa's Environment

Introduction:

Beqa Island has a very unique environment, I have been to many islands, but none like Beqa. On Beqa, there are nine villages, and the only thing that connects them is water. On Beqa there are no roads, cars, bikes, or any other way to go from each village other than by boat. Every village is surrounded by mountains and forests, which makes it too difficult to make roads or even real paths. If it were low tide for a long enough time, you could walk all the way around the island on the beaches, but the low tide doesn't last too long.

What makes this environment special or different?:

Surrounding Beqa is a giant coral reef that is visible both on Google Earth and in real life. The reef is one of the biggest soft coral reefs in the world. Fiji relies heavily on the water for travel and food, and that is no different for Beqa. The amount of life in the coral reef is amazing. When I went spearfishing for the first time, I was able to see firsthand how many fish, turtles, sharks and other forms of aquatic life are living down there. The beautiful beaches surrounded by mountains and forests really made Beqa the most beautiful island I have ever seen. There are a lot of waterfalls on the island, and there was also one in Dakuibeqa. After it rained, the waterfalls looked amazing!
