Farewell!

After attempting to make fresh pasta, myself, I would say that it was one of the most unusual and engaging culinary experiences I've had in my life thus far! We started out easy by making the dough from eggs and flour but took extra care to make sure the dough stayed the right consistency. After preparing the dough, we kneaded it and rolled it out with a wooden rolling pin. At this point, we all chose the sizes we wanted for the pasta strands — I went for a medium, "fettucini" grade noodle. We bought fresh cheeses, basil and tomatoes to concoct a creamy sauce in which we then coated the pasta. You could tell the food tasted good and left us speechless because we all went silent for around three minutes when taking the first test bites!

Recently, I've been trying to live the life of an Israeli to truly get a sense of what being native to the land is like before I leave the country. In Israel, being by the beach is a big part of the culture and lifestyle. On any day of the week, you will see the beach boardwalk populated by Israelis who bring instruments to play by the water, set up barbecues (called mangals in Israel), play beach sports like vollyeball, soccer, matkot (similar to tennis, but without a net) or just come to hang out with friends and family. I decided to spend a couple days on the beach this week to enjoy the wonderful weather given to us by Mother Nature and to really feel like an Israeli! The sunsets I experienced as a result of this beach-time were beyond words, as you will see in the images I have posted to this article. I brought my good friend Josh with me and we decided to play soccer on the sand — one of our favorite sports! We even had the pleasure of meeting a new friend who joined our game!
