There are also trains in Israel that help people get to far away places. For example, if I wanted to go to Jerusalem, the home of the Western Wall, I could take a quick train ride from Haifa and be there in a jiffy! The trains are also very comfortable and quiet - this reminds me of the Hogwarts Express!
One of the ways I get around and many of my fellow classmates get around at the University of Haifa is by what we call the "cable car." The cable car in Haifa goes up and down Carmel mountain, which is where the University of Haifa is situated. The cable car takes students all the way down the mountain and to a mall and bus station where individuals can transfer and get to the places they need to be. Alternatively, students can stop by the mall for dinner or a movie!
The reason I like the cable car so much is because it provides a beautiful view of the entire city of Haifa, showing the sea, wildlife, flowers, plants, and the greenery of the city. The cable car is like an amusement park ride, but at a cheap price and one that takes you to your destination! You can also ride the cable car with four people; therefore, it is a fun activity to do with friends to get a world-class view of the city at an affordable price!
Riding the buses in Israel is definitely part of the culture. In just a month of riding the buses, I found myself to be an active part of Israel's society. It is very difficult to have a car in Israel because of the busy streets and limited parking spots; therefore, most Israelis rely on public transportation to get to their destinations.
