Baucau is the second largest municipality in Timor-Leste after Dili, the capital! Baucau may not have all the tourist attractions that Dili does, but Baucau does have its own special community attractions! Take a tour with me!
I learned about Baucau and would say that my community's greatest need is more employment options for the young adults. The reason Dili is such a popular place to live is because they have, in contrast to Baucau, all the employment opportunities for young adults.
They have this need because most of the young adults in Timor-Leste as a whole are unemployed.
My job as a Community Economic Development volunteer is to help Timorese people think or strategize on ways they can build a business for themselves. Currently, I'm working on a project to turn rice straw fiber into different textiles. For example, clothes and non-woven materials.
