My house is located on a cul de sac about a block away from my high school. I enjoy sitting outside in my big backyard and watching the squirrels and baby bunnies. My parents recently discovered that we have two resident owls as well. Fun fact: my backyard also has a treehouse that my sister and I built with our dad when we were little!
My hobbies include hiking (anything outdoors really), learning new things, reading, singing and playing piano. My favorite thing to learn about is science, especially new advancements in scientific thought and technology. You might say that I’m a science nerd. Additionally, I love animals and hope that, when I retire from a career in education, I can travel the world and help endangered species.
I owe my sense of adventure and my appreciation of nature to my parents who took me to explore the National Parks in the United States. I have traveled to many states on the east and west coast and have even gone to Alaska and Hawaii. While I love to travel and explore, I have only been out of the United States a handful of times. I have been to the Caribbean, Peru and, recently, Europe. In Peru, my sister and I made a music program for two after-school organizations in the Sacred Valley. We also got the opportunity to do a four day hike to Machu Picchu! In the beginning of this summer, I was in Europe to do an 11-day hike called the Tour du Mont Blanc in Switzerland, Italy and France. That was my first time crossing the Atlantic Ocean to visit Europe.
With regards to my professional goals and accomplishments, I have spent most of my time working with students.
