The reason why I chose Spain over Brazil was that it was a longer program which meant I would be able to experience it for a bit longer. Another reason why I chose Spain is that I am fluent in Spanish, and this will make my stay easier. While people in Spain speak a different type of Spanish than they do in Mexico and there are a few words that have different meanings, I can understand most of the language. Barcelona is a beautiful city that is near many different places. Barcelona is neighbors with Portugal, France, and Morocco, so I have travel options nearby, plus Spain itself has many different beautiful places to visit. The program I am doing my study abroad will be taking us to Seville and Valencia, which are cities in Spain, and I am excited to see them.
