Hello,
My name is R'Mon Harvell and I am originally from inner-city Cleveland, Ohio. I am the only child on my mother's side, but I have six siblings on my father's side. My parents had me while they were really young. My mother was only 15 at the time. Although she faced many difficulties raising me, she tried her best to provide me with a better life than the one she had while growing up. Although I faced much adversity growing up, I refused to use this as an excuse as to why I could not be great, but instead used it as fuel to determine why I deserved to be great.
I currently am a senior at Berea College, which is a liberal arts college in rural Kentucky. In the past, I have studied abroad in Ghana, Africa, which helped solidify my love for travel. Ever since I was able to travel outside of my community, which most people from inner-city Cleveland do not have the chance to do, I have seen the value in learning from different types of people. I believe the more diverse interaction a person is able to have, the more he or she is able to learn about not only other people but about himself or herself and the true potential of humankind.
We as humans are one of the most developed, intelligent, and sustainable species if developed properly.
