Last, but not least, the food has been something I have grown to love! Growing up in an Asian family, I eat rice with most meals. In Italy, a lot of people eat pasta for most meals. It is a great substitute for what I am used to! Like I mentioned before, Italians eat a lot of pasta, pizza and paninis. There is a lot of variety of each kind, just like how there are different types of hamburgers in America. I do miss my mom's home cooking, but Italian has now become one of my favorite types of food!
When moving away from what you are usually used to, everything is a little difficult at first. However, if you keep an open mind and are willing to try new things, you'll find a lot of things you didn't know you liked before! I have learned a lot and grown a lot through this process. It was not, and still is not easy, but I would not trade this experience for anything.
