We even took a side-trip to Vienna, Austria. I have brought you with me to the University; we have explored around Oulu; and I showed you what my student apartment looks like. I cannot believe how far we have come in a few short months!
Remember that wherever you travel, the most important thing to bring with you is an open mind. Just because some of the customs you encounter are different to to those in the United States, does not mean that these other customs are somehow wrong. Instead, overseas travel is a chance to explore new ways of doing things and different ways to see the world. In short, traveling gives us the oppertunity to challenge how we see the world.
But we do not have to wait to go somewhere else to do these things. Instead, we can start right where we are. Do your friends' families have different traditions to yours? Are there people in your city who celebrate different holidays or wear different clothes than you? Let's celebrate the diversity in the world, whether it exists around the corner or across the globe.
